Retainer Care
Your Retainers Play A Very Important Role In Keeping Your Teeth Straight. There Are Few Things To Remember When Looking After Them…
Each Aligner is custom-made and changed every 2 weeks to gradually move teeth into the desired position. Always remove your retainers before eating and drinking anything except for cool water.
The best way to clean your aligners is by gently brushing them with a soft toothbrush and water before inserting them into your mouth. We also recommend that you brush your teeth after each meal before putting your aligners back on. We give all our Invisalign patients two aligner containers so that they can keep them safe when the aligners are not being worn!
Removable Retainers
Clean your retainers with a toothbrush every morning
Always use cool water – never hot as this might melt them!
Avoid using toothpaste to clean your retainers
Use retainer or denture tablets to soak your retainer at least once a week (e.g. Retainer Brite, Polident)
Keep them away from pets
Fixed Retainers
Take your time brushing behind your front teeth
Use interdental brushes or Superfloss to clean underneath the wire
Avoid crunching on ice or biting your nails which can fracture your fixed retainer!
