Retainers are essential in maintaining your perfect smile once you have completed treatment. We provide both fixed and removable retainers to all our orthodontic patients as well as new patients who have had previous orthodontic treatment.
Fixed Retainers
Fixed retainers are a key component of modern orthodontics and are an effortless way for you to ensure that your teeth do not shift once they are in the perfect position. The front teeth in the mouth are the most likely to move. For this reason our ergonomically designed fixed retainers are attached behind the front six teeth at the top and the bottom of the mouth.
The fixed retainers used at My Dental Team are custom-made for each patient. Once a mould is taken of the patient’s teeth, a wire is created to follow the contours of the teeth so that it fits perfectly. The wire is then attached to each tooth individually with the same material used for fillings to ensure its durability. The material is placed so that it follows the shape of your teeth so that the retainer feels smooth and comfortable – almost like veneers behind your teeth.
