At My Dental Team, our dedicated orthodontists offer multiple treatment options to help you achieve the perfect smile…

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has completed an additional three years of orthodontic study and training after working as a qualified dentist for at least two years. They focus on preventing, diagnosing and treating dental and facial irregularities to correctly straighten teeth, and align a patient’s bite and jaws. Our orthodontists, at My Dental Team, are experts in providing multiple treatment options for children, teenagers and adults. While you are completing your orthodontic treatment, our general dentists work alongside our orthodontists as a team to allow you to achieve a healthy smile that you can be confident about!

Ever since I finished my own braces treatment as a teenager, I knew that I wanted to become orthodontist! As a specialist orthodontist, it is incredibly rewarding to be able to provide both children and adults with the treatment they need to find confidence in their smile. Being able to give a patient the gift of confidence to smile is something I look forward to doing each and every day.

 Education and Experience

I completed my dentistry studies at the University of Sydney, graduating with Honours in 2007. After this, I worked as a general dentist treating medically complex patients at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown. Still excited to pursue orthodontics, I accepted a three year orthodontic training position at the University of Hong Kong (which I completed in 2012). During this time I also completed a Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, UK.

Since then I have been privileged to work as an orthodontist both in my hometown Sydney, as well as in Singapore. This has exposed me to a wide range of patients with vastly different and unique orthodontic issues.

Continuing Education

Being an orthodontist involves countless clinical hours creating smiles but it is equally important to keep up to date with the latest technology and research for my own professional development and for my patients. I regularly attend local and international conferences to ensure that my knowledge is current and that I continue to provide state of the art treatment.

Personal

When not in the clinic I enjoy as much snowboarding, scuba diving and trying to play golf as I can.

It is such a pleasure to be an orthodontist! It is personally fulfilling to see the self-confidence of our patient’s soar as we perfect their smiles. Seeing my patients enjoying their journey through orthodontic treatment, and beaming at their results, keeps me excited about working in orthodontics, more now than ever before.

Education and Experience

In the city where I grew up, I studied at the University of Sydney and completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001. I then worked in both the Hunter and Sydney regions as a general dentist.  During this time, I also had the opportunity to work as a volunteer dentist in COUNTRY. These experiences allowed me to build a strong background in all areas of dentistry whilst treating many different communities.

I then spent three years in Adelaide where I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry and my specialist orthodontic training. Entering into my doctorate degree, I was the sole orthodontic student who was a recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Award – a national scholarship for academic excellence. Since then I have completed a Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh as well as at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Before opening my clinic in Tamworth, I also worked as part of a specialised team with the Adelaide Craniofacial Unit at the Women’s and Children’s hospital as a senior registrar. My specialist training both overseas and in Australia has allowed me to gain a wide range of experience in the treatment of orthodontic problems for patients of all ages.

Continuing Education

As a specialist, I think it is so important to be constantly learning and investigating to ensure that my patients receive the best quality dental care. I make it a point to attend the yearly local congresses run by the Australian Society of Orthodontists, and also attend the American Association of Orthodontists congress on an annual basis. I find these events allow me to what my Australian and international colleagues are using in their practices, and what I may be able to do better. Through this, the team at Orthodontics at Tamworth is able to be at the cutting edge of orthodontic practice and deliver the most advanced treatments to our patients.
